I’ve seen this too many times.
Two new SDRs start the same week.
Same manager. Same training. Same territory.
One ramps in 30 days. Books meetings. Gets noticed.
The other? Spinning. Second-guessing. Waiting for feedback that never comes.
So what’s the difference?
Not talent. Not grind.
It’s access.
The first rep?
They trained on their own time. Practiced on their own terms.
Got feedback immediately. Not two weeks later in a one-on-one.
They didn’t wait for the manager.
They had a coach. And that coach was AI.
A new report from Winning by Design just dropped.
Link here →
And the numbers hit hard:
Asking impact questions: 32% to 90% in 60 days
Asking critical event questions: 21% to 70%
Close rate: up 21%
ARR per rep: +16%
All from one sprint.
No magic. Just practice. Reps. Feedback. Repeat.
Here’s what I loved about this report
It doesn’t pretend AI is the solution to everything.
It just shows that when it comes to coaching, AI is already doing the job better than most humans — and doing it 24/7.
Reps get real-time prep before a meeting.
Call breakdowns after.
Practice prompts that actually map to real objections, not some 2016 playbook.
And It also says:
Managers aren’t coaching less. They’re just coaching differently.
Instead of sitting through hours of calls, they’re reviewing exceptions.
AI handles the reps who need the basics.
The manager steps in when it’s strategic.
It’s not less coaching. It’s smarter coaching.
There was also a quiet moment in the report I was proud to see.
Right there — listed among companies like Salesforce, Gong, and Saleshood — was Blue.
We didn’t pitch our way into this research. We earned it.
Because Blue isn’t just a product — it’s a rep’s private coach.
The kind that helps you actually get better between meetings.
Not just talk about it after.
If you’re reading this and still thinking,
“Yeah but my manager’s great, they’ll help me ramp,”
I’m not saying they won’t.
I’m saying they can’t be everywhere, every time, right when you need them.
That’s what AI is for.
And if you’re not using it?
Someone else in your pipeline is.
Quick test to try this week:
Take one objection you hear often
Drop it into your AI tool of choice
Write out 3 responses. Roleplay them. Refine them.
Record yourself. Watch it back. Repeat until it lands
That’s coaching.
That’s what gets you ramped.
That’s what top reps are doing when no one’s looking.
Final thought
You don’t need more call reviews.
You need more at-bats. More clean feedback loops. More intentional reps.
AI isn’t here to replace you.
It’s here to sharpen you.
And based on what this report says — the reps who embrace it are already pulling ahead.
Don’t wait to catch up.
